In 2008, I topped the scales at 254!! That is the same time I found out I was going to be a first time grandma. My kids are grown and it was now "Lisa time" so I finally got my act together as I used to be very active. I started Weight Watchers and after I dropped about 30 lbs, my energy level increased dramatically. I was sitting in traffic one day in the fall of 2009, thinking…"I could get home faster on my bike!" I went home and told my husband and we immediately plotted my work commute. It's only 12 miles round trip but what a jump start to my day!! I LOVE riding my bike and next month I will turn 50 and I feel like I'm 25!! Also, as of 6 months ago, we went vegetarian and between that and my bicycle, I have now dropped 100 lbs!!! My husband and I ride in some Cincinnati local rides but we spend most of our saddle time commuting to work and weekend pleasure rides. We do weekend trips and put our bikes on top of our MINI Cooper and see towns by bicycle. There really is NO better way to see a town than by bicycle!!! I encourage my much younger co-workers to ride and now one of the physicians I work for wants to get a group together to ride in a local ride. Let me end this by saying…. I am so thankful for that day in 2009, that I was sitting in traffic fussing about it. This old gal is having the time of my life riding my bike
